« Water, earth, fire and sky, the essence of all things form part of the universe of Alexis Gorodine at the very instant it is exposed in all its eternity. The multiplicity of eyes are like a myriad lights in the constellation with a human touch where the four elements meld together in such a way that we are perhaps, most likely transported, to the golden heart of the painting.
Before becoming a doorway to the realm of colors and movements, it is a scintillating wall, a sleepy river, a star-kissed road, almost still, a footbridge frozen in mid-flight. The city is free, and it’s getting late; The light is already dimming, its inexhaustible cloth already giving way to the night while the last remaining licks of flames still dot the air, opening a passage to the core. A breach, the vanishing point is this delicate transition that takes us beyond earth, and the sea. All those cats’ eyes staring at us seem to be the only movement in this snapshot of the city that falls asleep and seem to carry in them the canvas’ fire, behind the image.
They say alchemy seeks to capture the mysterious harmony of the gods by distilling each molecule of precious essences that make up our humanity and revealing it to ourselves. The artist, within the enigma of his secret forge, finds the gold of places that he visits or loves by reinventing them on his canvas and by triggering in the eyes of the other, an emotional reaction ».

« I am back to landscapes, urban and rural
I work in the wind, sun, rain, in open air…
First on the bare canvas: earth, ashes; then prints, cracks, buboes, tracks, signs: it breathes again. Come the colors, the water, their chemistry and recipes, the dry pigments bound in mayonnaise. Now the elements rage. (Wind, rain, and sun play physical). It splashes, drips, oozes, drizzles, dries and cracks; the stains work.
I take place, after all; I draw, erase, scratch, blot, add, play and sign.
This was it ».
