SIMON Silvi, Photography, invited artist, La fabrique des éléments

Silvi Simon lives and works in Moselle, in the heart of the Dabo forest.
After studying visual arts at the Université des Sciences Humaines in Strasbourg, and animation at ENSAV La Cambre in Brussels, she attended and taught a number of alternative training courses in film laboratory processing.
In 1991, Silvi Simon co-founded the Burstscratch collective, which runs an artisanal film laboratory in Strasbourg and works for the creation and dissemination of experimental cinema on silver film.
Initially, her artistic practice was in the field of expanded cinema.
At the same time, she devotes herself to experimental photography such as chimigrams and anthotypes.
The chemigrams she presents are the result of prepared chemical research, sometimes spontaneous, but also originating from out-of-date chemistries, just like the photographic papers, which are sometimes very old and have undergone various inadequate storages.
These experiments lead to astonishment, which becomes clearer with more in-depth research, but always leaves something to marvel at.
