Plants transformed into paper, images of themselves, bear witness. The harvest marks the beginning of the great work: immortalizing the blooms of a garden, the fields of a landscape, the tilling of the earth, the passage of time, the germination of a seed.
The process takes shape through a series of steps: natural prints, embossing, drawings, preparatory photographs, photogravures, engravings,
artists’ books, screens. These plant-based tautologies, known as “Papier botaniques,” are miniature gardens, cellulosic cabinets of curiosities composed of the matter of a plant, a garden, or a landscape.
